What to Include in a CNC RFQ Package

The files and commercial details that help a machining supplier prepare an accurate quotation faster.

Provide both 2D and 3D data

A STEP model helps with geometry and toolpath review, while a controlled PDF drawing communicates tolerances, threads, finishes, notes and revision status. State which document governs if the files conflict.

Add commercial context

Include prototype quantity, expected annual volume, delivery location and target timing. Suppliers may recommend different tooling, material formats or production methods when the program has repeat demand.

Call out special requirements

List certificates, inspection reports, packaging, cleanliness, traceability and NDA needs. Requirements introduced after quotation can change cost and lead time, so they should be visible from the beginning.
